The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is a 30- year old non-profit organization. It started as activists who wanted to prevent development of the McDowell Mountains. The early days saw us as a Land Trust and advocacy organization through the process to secure public support for the creation of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and through land acquisitions. The Preserve is now over 30,000 acres and the largest urban Preserve in North America. It is now a science, education and stewardship organization who preserve and advances natural open space through science, education and stewardship.
